Brockmeyer consulting offers library management and design assistance uniquely suited to your needs, community, and culture.
Brockmeyer Library Consulting based in Saskatoon provides library consultation in the academic, public, educational and special library sectors, as well to individuals within their homes. My services are designed for institutional leaders, project leads, librarians and individuals in a variety of library settings. I have a wealth of experience and extensive background and have addressed multiple and competing challenges in all areas of library service and management.
I have served in large academic libraries in senior management doing institutional service design; in school and special libraries, assisting to design and build signature library spaces; with special materials collections that are diverse in nature, including those that are related to prominent political, literary and community leaders, as well as institutional and community histories; and with public libraries as a front line worker in a downtown library (Calgary) navigating a multi-cultural and diverse community. Working closely with existing library staff and architects, I specialize in library design consultation individually suited to the vision of the library and its community.

Role of a Library Consultant
Library consultants perform a variety of functions to help resolve problems, improve performance or secure action. As experienced advisors, we may be engaged to assist in enhancing community service based on current needs, or lend support to existing leadership in achieving projected needs and goals. In this, we may play a role in assisting to create a vision for your library as you wish to see it grow and develop into the future, and work with service providers or community stakeholders to help ensure that vision. Depending on organizational needs, we act as advocates for change, assist in problem solving, bring new and fresh energy to help keep your team going during challenging times, or work within the community as library advocates.
Significance of Library Leadership
Changes in community needs, organizational requirements and cultural expectations have impacted the way in which libraries function within our communities. To meet the demands and expectations of requisite changes, effective leadership in libraries is critical. At Brockmeyer Library Consulting, I use my knowledge, experience, emotional intelligence and skills to gather information, provide a fresh assessment and make recommendations for change.
